Ingredients

We have created an entire page devoted to the ingredients we carefully select, and also some information on why we do not use certain common ingredients found in most beverages (even those you think are good for you!).

Sarilla is:

  • 100% Plant-Based
  • 100% Organic
  • Non-GMO
  • Gluten-Free
  • Most of our ingredients are regenerative and our goal is to be 100% by 2025. What does this mean?
  • 0.00% Alcohol. Many drinks can be labeled as "nonalcoholic" but still contain 0.5% alcohol at the time of packaging. As a fermented beverage ages the alcohol can actually increase.

We select the finest functional herbs in their most natural state: hand-crafted, minimally processed, grown in biodiverse soil without pesticides.
No syrups or powders here and you will never see a "flavor" in our recipe. Our founder creates the recipes, we do not outsource to flavor houses.

Some of our favorite herbs include:

  1. Hibiscus
  2. Rooibos
  3. Honeybush
  4. Tulsi Holy Basil
  5. Lemongrass
  6. Chamomile

And of course tea! And we mean the traditional kind - the camellia sinensis plant; possibly the richest natural source of catechin, antioxidant and l-theanine you can find. Many so-called functional beverages and energy drinks, or weight loss gimicks use processed tea powders to get a similar effect. Check to see if they are backed by science in their claims, or if they are just pointing to the general health benefits of tea. If it's the latter, you're better off drinking real tea leaves!

Most our tea is grown in high elevation Rwanda, in rich soil and cool air, with active bird life and pollinators. Plenty of shade and the tea is grown year round, with fields rotated and 'rested'.

Our favorite types of tea include:

  1. Silver Needles
  2. White Tips
  3. Green
  4. Black

Finally we use organic fruits to finish off an elegant, natural beverage that benefits your mind, body and the planet!

  1. Limes
  2. Apples
  3. Lemons
  4. Monk Fruit

Don't forget to check the ask about the water source for your favorite beverage!
We use Vermont Mountain Spring water that has been charcoal-filtered and rigorously tested.

And that's all folks! You are what you drink so keep your eyes out for some ingredients to avoid below, and whenever possible, look beyond the label.

Some things to watch out for in common "natural, healthy, nonalcoholic" beverages:

  • Stevia (often GMO, can cause various neurological problems)
  • Erythritol (corn, sugar alcohol, can cause gut issues)
  • Genetically modified ingredients (it won't be on the label)
  • Allulose (corn)
  • Unfiltered city water sources
  • Flavors
  • Green tea extract (often used as an added ingredient for caffeine and so-called functional benefits; check the source and how it's processed)
  • Anything else that you don't recognize. It's unnecessary and probably unhealthy but the manufacturer may believe it's necessary to create a shelf-stable, long lasting beverage, or it may be cheaper and help them keep their cost down.
Remember, just because a product is in a "healthy store" does not mean it's good for you or the planet.

Happy drinking!
